Cosmology

This is a brief summation of the Yorubá Cosmology. We believe it is very important tounderstand ones’ relationship in the order of the universe.

Creation I

In the beginning, there was nothing but the greatness of Olódumare, so powerful that IT created and there was.

Creation II

The saga continues. More to think about.

Elá

Ela, that which was at creation, “Eleeri-ipin,” the Witness to Creation. “Let US create in our image”. The essence of Ifá and spirit of Orúnmilà.

Ese tayé

The first treading of the world. The contact between spirit and Orisa.

Ibà

Humility brings honor Iba (“EE-BAH”) is a prayer of praise for those that were responsible for Creation. Again a beginning that can be used as a guide to connect.

Íwà

Twelve Odù Ifa. The guides of the Elders. I use these in my continued efforts to develope Iwà. This is not a pinprick of the wisdom shared by the Ancestors. Listen, apply and be blessed.

Libation

This is the first prayer given to me by Olówó Babalosa Odórosimi Akinwálé Dósú/Davis, Ibaiyé, tonu. It can be a guide for a beginning and more can be

added as one grows in the tradition. We must start at a beginning with clearing and cooling out the hearts to connect with the Oris.

Lifes’ Circle

Let us voyage on the Opón Ifä, the circle of life and see the development of destiny. We are responsible for our deeds and contact with the Irunmoles begin before our coming into the world

Modakéké

“Dead from the neck up.” If one doesn’t connect or link with their Ori to Olódùmaré, they become dead from the neck up. If one seeks the fulfillment of worldly desires, they become “dead from the neck up.” Modakeke, the disrespect of the guides of our Ancestors and Elders. Seek truth and the fulfillment of Olódúmare. “The werld is a marketplace, heaven is home.”

Morning Prayer

This is a prayer that is being used by the Orunmila

Youngsters in Benin, West Africa. researched by

C.O. Ibie, it can be found in his work, Ifism: The Complete Works of Orúnmilà under the Oyekú Meji chapter. This was shared while living with the President of the Benin charter, Enjoy and apply, Ase o

Muddy Waters

More than a “blues” singer, Imule, the convenant between the Orisá /Onile. There is no need to fear the “African.” We are all Omo Olódùmarè (Children* of the Creator). Now is the time to fulfill the contract.

Ori

Ori lonise, Ayanmó ntéda ó, Ori mi sin mi délé ó,

Ajô ni mó wa O! My Spiritual Guide is of my chosing.

May It allow me to overcome the trappings of this world and find IRÉ, IRE, IWA!

Orúnmilà

The Holy Prophet of the Origa. The repository of Odi.

The Incarnation of Elá in this world. We can use the teachings of Iti and re-ORientate back to the Source Being.

Osun

Yee-yea OlIt Mother of Fresh/Cooling Waters. Emulated, but never surpassed in Her beauty, Incarnated in Venus, Aprodities and Love. Compassionate Mother of Children. lyami, whe sits on thethrone at night. Mother grant us your blessings and not your anger. Ye Ye-O!

Òtitó

“Do good, speak the truth, that is what the Origa supports.” Sometimes we find it trying to walk the path.

Temptations abound in this world, but each will be accountable for their deeds in this world. More from Awò S. Pópóolas*, Editor-in-chief of the Orinmila Magazine, research.

Suúrú

Suuri ni bàbà Iwa. Sometimes we run so quickly that we miss the rewards of our journey in this world. Check out how one can gather the important tools to achieve ones’ destiny. This is one of many Ods that was gathered by Babalawò S. Solagbadé Pópóola and has been published in a new book.

Relationships
